TSAC Exec Vote:: How should will fill our World Cup Team spots

Carrying over the discussion in the open forum

http://tablesoccerca.ning.com/forum/topics/how-should-we-qualify-the

TSAC Exec, vote to accept this proposal or not.

The men's world cup spots will be filled as follows (Team = 7 + 2 spares - so 9 players total)
4 from Nationals - 2 highest placing Canadians in OS, and 2 highest placing Canadians in OD (they don't have to be on the same team)
4 from Tornado Worlds - 2 highest placing Canadians in OS, and 2 highest placing Canadians in OD (they don't have to be on the same team)
1 from AQBB - highest placing Canadian in OS

All spots are considered to be on equal footing, out of the 9 players, we field the best team every match with the 7 players that the coach deems appropriate for that match.

All sports are filled by the first Canadian player who wishes to travel to France going down the ranking according to how they finished in that event.

First option is given to the players in the order in which the events occurred.

If a player has already qualified in a previous event, the option is given to the next player who wishes to travel to France going down the ranking according to how they finished in that event.

In the case of a tie, the TSAC exec will draw the names from a hat.

All players that wish to travel to France and represent Canada at the World Cup have until Nov 15, 2009 to inform TSAC that they would like to be considered to fill a spot.

by Nov 22nd, TSAC will post who is on the World Cup Team using the above rules to determine who gets to be on the team.

If any event does not provide all of its spots from the players in attendance, then, the ITSF Committee will fill any remaining spots the way it sees fit to form the most competitive team.

So essentially, by nov 15th, any player can let us know that they want to be considered for a spot on the team.
Then we'll use the three events in the order they occurred and fill the spots with those players awarding spots according to who finished highest.
If there are any spots unfilled, then the remaining spots will be chosen by the ITSF Committee from those players that wish to be considered. If no players remain, then the Team will accept players on a first-come-first-serve basis.

email either your YES vote or your NO vote to accept this method of selecting our World Cup team to me (dunneri@shaw.ca) by Friday Aug 28, midnight PST

OS Qualified Players:
Kane and Mario
OD Qualified Players:
Eric Dunn and Eric Goodman or Brian Loeppky

Brian and Eric G were partnered with eachother and tied for 2nd highest placing Canadian in Doubles (because Mario and Kane qualified from singles), maybe the tiebreak should be based on who did better in singles?

According to the outline above, the spots are to be taken in the order in which the events occured.

and Doubles happened before Singles. so its
Eric Dunn, then a tie breaker between Kane, Mario, Eric G, and Brian

then once that's settled, then we go down the singles chart.
- weird i know. but i'll have to check the exact standings, and then we'll have to figure it out. and we did determine a way to break ties, we draw names from a hat out of those in the tie breaker - kinda lame, but it works.

Not that I am too interested because I had a terrible tournament, but, myself, Moya, and Dave Ahn all tied with Eric and Brian in Open Dubs.

I was just looking through the standings. And Eric D. is first in doubles, but we still need a second from doubles. So that should be Mario or Kane, doesn't really matter which one cause their the two highest in singles. So it should be

OD Qualified:
Eric Dunn and Mario/Kane (either one)

OS Qualifed:
Mario/Kane (either one)
and Eric Goodman/ Dave Ahn tie breaker for the last place. (as they were the next highest placing in singles)

I think that makes the most sense.

ok, according to the results posted on the foosballboard, by ben (who always helps run the tournaments).. these are the results:

OPEN DOUBLES
9 Gregg PERRIE (USA) - Eric DUNN (CAN) (TS 14)
17 Kane GABRIEL (CAN) - Mario ARIGANELLO (CAN) (TS 13)
33 Eric GOODMAN (CAN) - Brian LOEPPKY (CAN) (TS 57)
33 Jeffrey PIPKIN JR (USA) - Jeff ALLEN (CAN) (TS 35)
33 Moya TIELENS (CAN) - Dave AHN (CAN) (TS 49)
49 Tony TONG (CAN) - Fred QUAN (CAN) (TS 58)

OPEN SINGLES
13 Mario ARIGANELLO (CAN) (TS 29)
17 Kane GABRIEL (CAN) (TS 34)
33 Eric DUNN (CAN) (TS 27)
49 Eric GOODMAN (CAN) (TS 56)
49 Dave AHN (CAN) (TS 64)

So Yes Ben Wilkins is correct, Eric Dunn qualifies from Doubles, and then either Kane or Mario
Doesn't matter which one as they are 1-2 in singles, so lets assume Kane
Then Mario qualifies from Singles
Kane and Eric Dunn are removed as they've already qualified
Then its a tie between Eric Goodman and Dave.

So overall, we're going to go down the order like this:
(From Doubles results, players have until Nov 15th to commit that they want to go, if a player does not wish to go, we'll go down the list to the next one in the following order until we fill 2 spots)
Eric Dunn
tie: Kane, Mario
tie: Eric Goodman, Jeff Allen, Moya, Dave
tie: Tony Tong, Fred Quan

(From Singles results, players have until Nov 15th to commit that they want to go, if a player does not wish to go, we'll go down the list to the next one in the following order until we fill 2 spots)
tie: Eric Goodman, Dave

and we're not forgetting about the one spot from the AQBB tournament that i think occurred before Worlds, so they have the first spot to fill I'll chase down that - and let them know how all this works.

hmm not that it matters a great deal, but the AQBB Open Singles event actually started after Doubles at worlds, but before Singles at Worlds - there is no carry over of spots - but here's the list for that spot:

1. Paquin-Marcotte, Lawrence
2. Beaumier-Ethier, Julien
3. Auger, Dominic
4. Ghibaudo, Jean-Christophe
5. Ouellet Rimouski, Simon
5. Tremblay, Michael
7. Lemerre, Remy
7. Newbury, David
9. Benatar, Daniel
9. DERATTE Rudolph
9. Nasles, Frederic
9. Spence, Frederic
13. Demers, Karl
13. Gilbert, Marc
13. Ourad karim
13. Verreault Maxime
17. Caron, Jennifer
17. Fleming, Luke
17. Gagnon, Danny
17. Gagnon, Marc-Eric
17. James Vigeant, Daniel
17. Massicotte, Mathieu
17. Migneault, Jean-Denis
17. Turbid, Alexander
25. Bigeault, Mathieu
25. Bonneau, Steve
25. Daigneault, Alexander
25. Francis Rioux
25. Levesque, Olivier
25. Pitre, Gougou
25. Veillet, Nicolas
33. Bonneau, Justin
33. Germain, Nicolas
33. Lavoie, Cindy
33. Simard, Mathieu

ok, based on the results of the Canadian Nations, 4 more spots are open for the world cup team.
2 in doubles, and 2 in singles

Doubles ran first, so here's the Doubles results

1 Tony S / Ryan M
2 Eric D / Kane G
3 Eric G / Joseph R
4 Brian L / Andy U
5 Matt B / Darrel P
5 Jack H / Nathan S

Tony, Ryan are removed due to not being Canadian
Eric and Kane are removed as they've already qualified from an earlier event
Eric Goodman might be removed, but possibly not if Dave Ahn wins tie breaker (in a previous event)
Joey R has qualified for a spot no matter what.
Brian L, and Andy U are then tied for the remaining spots - then we'll go down the rest of the list.

From Singles
1 Tony S
2 Ryan M

3 Mario I
4 Brian L
5 Eric D
5 Nhu T
7 Garry B
7 Tuan P
9 Nelson S
9 Kane G
9 Paul G
9 Matt B

So Mario I has qualified, and possibly Brian, (and if not Brian, then Nhu, and then down the list)

So what we're going to do is allow everything until Nov 15th to let us know if they'd like to be a part of the world cup team. - and then we'll award spots according to the rules as outlined above.

If everyone accepts their spot, this would be the World Cup Team this year.
Eric D, Kane G, Mario A, Larry, Mario I, Joey R, (and 3 players from Eric G, Brian L, Dave A, Andy U, and Nhu T, and i might be missing someone - it get complicated based on who wins tie breakers.)

Again, ALL players have until Nov 15th, to inform TSAC that they are willing to pay their own way to France, and compete for Canada in the World Cup.

After Nov 15, TSAC will apply to selection process as outlined above. So even you if don't initially qualify, still send in your name in case someone above you passes on their spot.
