Table Soccer Association of Canada

All things Canada Foos

The following players have until Nov 15th to let TSAC know if they will claim their spot on the World Cup team, and be able to pay their own way to France and represent Canada in the ITSF World Cup of Table Soccer, in Nantes, France, Jan 6-10

Larry
Mario I
Joey R

If you are on this list, and know for sure that you will not be able to attend, then let us know that as well, as that greatly effects who has first choice.

Feel free to respond here, or email dunneri@shaw.ca

Even if you are not on this list, you can submit your name as well, and on the day after Nov 15 we'll apply the ranking system as determined by the results from the Tornado World Championships, AQBB Provincial Championships, and the Canadian National Championships, as outlined at: http://tablesoccerca.ning.com/forum/topics/tsac-exec-vote-how-shoul...

There are 7 spots available

as players respond, i'll keep posting an updated ranking list

Might I suggest we post the best flight and accomodation prices we find as well?

Good idea, i'll likely be taking care of booking the accomodation, so everyone can stay together - the last few years, the ITSF suggested a few hotels, and that way we can also be able to stay in the same hotel as other teams. Last year we were in the same hotel as austrians, brits, and others. talk about good times down at the bar!! B-)

Wow...this is gonna be messy. :P

Should be noted that the cheapest flight I can find ATM is $950 from Toronto to Paris.

Can we get an idea of the cost of accomodations Eric?

last year we stayed at the hotel ibis south - and it was 80 euro a night - we put two in a room, so that should give you some general idea..

all the accommodation info can be found:
http://www.table-soccer.org/worldcup/documents/GBR%20-%20Accommodat...

i'm going to contact the british team, and see where they are staying, they're fun to hang with.

i just realized the link i sent was for last years accommodation - i don't see a suggested hotel list for this year yet. but i'm still going to attempt to co-ordinate with team UK.

Being in the same hotel as the british team was awesome!

Seriously... if you are on that list and are not at least thinking about going on this trip - it is worth going.

In the last year I have played in 4 or 5 tournaments, including the World Cup in France and Tornado Worlds in Dallas. There is no comparison for which is more fun, go to the World Cup if you can afford it.

I'm not debating how fun it will be ; it's the last bit of your paragraph about the "affording" that concerns me. ;)

Speaking of the Brits, a good idea doth follow:

I'm not sure what's going to happen here yet, but i was just reading the ITSF website,

http://www.itsfworldtour.com/index.php?id=228

and we're supposed to have the names of our world cup players, and national champions in by Oct 31 (which is a full 2 weeks before the previous date i posted of Nov 15th).

So - we might to have to bump up the cut off date - but there's a chance we might not have to as to the ITSF was supposed to let all the countries know if they are able to enter a team into the World Cup on Oct 15th (5 days ago) so they might extend that deadline.

I'll keep everyone posted - but if you can please post if you are able to make it or not, so we can get some further clarity here.

Also, Canada gets to send an additional doubles team in the ITSF World Championships event - this is in addition to our doubles National Champions - seeing as we did not define a method (sigh) for how this wild card spot was going to be filled, I'm going to suggest that this be selected by the ITSF Committee.

The spots are most likely going to be given to players that are on the world cup team already (since they are already there), and we're likely not going to be able to send more than 7 players. So possibly this might give some extra incentive to players considering taking a spot on the world cup team, if they also can play in doubles in the world championships.
